Ghana Is Now A ‘No Action, Talk Only’ Country – Alan Jabs Akufo-Addo Government’s To Begin Campaign

Former Ghana’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has seemingly jabbed the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s Government for doing more talking with less action.

Addressing the nation on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, following his resignation from the Government, Mr. Kyerematen says Ghana under the Presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo is gradually becoming a country where there is “no action” but “talks only.”

Mr. Kyerematen headed one of the key ministries under the Akufo-Addo’s Government from 2017 until his resignation a few days ago. The Trade Ministry under his watch was responsible for implementing the Government’s flagship industrialization programme, the One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy.

The 1D1F initiative is yet to be successfully implemented and many industrialists feel Mr. Kyerematen failed in implementing the policy as there was more talks and little action from him and Government in executing the programme successfully.

Under the watch of Mr. Kyerematen as Trade Minister, Government made several ‘sweet promises’ to investors who were encouraged to set up factories under the 1D1F policy. For instance, one of the steel firms set up under 1D1F, B5 Plus’s Chairman, Mukesh Thakwani, complained severally in the past about how the Government failed to provide reliable water supply and electricity to the company, and to fix the roads leading to the factory, even though Mr. Kyerematen was going across the country giving ‘sweet talks’ with no action.

But after leaving the same Government he served for nearly eight years which gave rise to “No Action, Only Talk”, he now wants Ghanaians to pay more attention to getting things done rather than talking.

The former Trade Minister stated in his televised address monitored by www.africanentertainment.com that “as a people, we must focus more on getting things done than talking,” he stated in a nationwide broadcast to officially declare his intention to contest the presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).”

He added that “Ghana is gradually becoming a NATO country – “No Action Talk Only”. We need to remember that the use of time is a zero-sum game.”

He further stated that “What Ghana needs now are solutions and actions not debates.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Kyerematen has announced his decision to contest the presidential Primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party, announcing a number of ambitious programmes he intends to execute when elected as president of Ghana.
